A top priority for Katya is to work tirelessly within the capacity of the position to ensure that Santa Barbara schools provide an outstanding education for all students. Through Katya’s background in education, she understands how important it is to ensure that the school system accurately prepares K-12 students for higher education and the workforce.

Katya is also committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student can succeed, regardless of their background. Currently, student success is a part of Katya’s duties as Associate Vice Chancellor of UCSB and therefore it is a priority for her to carry her expertise into her role as a Board Education Trustee.

Furthermore, Katya believes in the power of community and will strive to foster strong partnerships between our schools, parents, and local organizations.

Katya also plans to uplift our teachers, who are the backbone of our education system. As a Board Education Trustee, Katya will advocate for the resources and support that teachers need to inspire and educate our students effectively. Additionally, Katya will advocate to ensure that the needs of our students are always at the forefront.
